There’s this idea floating around that you should 'work in silence' - keep your goals to yourself, grind in the dark, and reveal everything once it’s perfect. I believe the exact opposite is true.
If you want to do something big - launch a side hustle, change your life - it’s important to enlist the help and support of the people around you. That could mean posting about it publicly, talking to friends, or just letting a few trusted people in on your plan. It’s part of manifesting your goals and making them feel real.
Even if you’re not ready to tell anyone, you can still take the first step: write your goals down. Research shows writing down goals makes you 33–42% more likely to achieve them.
This could be a weekly, daily, monthly, or quarterly habit. However you structure it, you’ve got to spend time thinking: What do I want my life to look like? What do I want to accomplish?
If you’re building a side hustle, that could mean defining milestones like launching a website, landing a first client, or finishing a product prototype. Whatever the goal is, you have to write it down. Then comes the harder part: following through.
Discipline is where most people stumble. It’s easy to say you’re working on something. Ironically, some studies suggest that simply telling people your goal gives you a hit of satisfaction that tricks your brain into thinking you’ve made progress.
That’s why action matters. And so does accountability.
Accountability partnerships increase your chances of reaching a goal by up to 65%. That’s why I run group coaching calls: everyone sets their own goals, and we meet weekly to track progress, share updates, and support each other. It creates structure. It builds momentum. And it keeps you honest.
So if you really want to get your side hustle off the ground: manage your time, set your goals, and stay disciplined. Surround yourself with people who will support you and hold you accountable.
